About Us

ABOUT THE COMPANY

In 1966 Aquacoolers was born, a company dedicated to providing the very best hydration solutions. A South African company to its roots, Aquacoolers developed the water cooler industry in South Africa, and an Aquacooler became the generic name for a water cooler. Forty years of development of the Aquacooler water cooler has resulted in creation of the world’s best water cooler.

As the need for better quality drinking water grew, Aquazania was born. Intensive investigation of mature bottled water markets around the world, pointed the way to a system of purification, that guarantees the finest quality water at all times. Taste testing and sampling of almost every local brand of water, helped refine the recipe of a truly great tasting water. This secret recipe carefully guarded ensures that every glass of Aquazania is a special experience.

As a fully B-BBEE compliant company, we pride ourselves on not only being participants in the growth of our country, but take great pleasure in empowering people of all races and genders to grow in their skill levels, and in their ability to develop tools to empower others. Our owner driver scheme has already empowered approximately 30 individuals.

BOTTLED WATER FILTRATION PROCESS

Our premium bottled water goes through a 9 step process to ensure that you get the purest water available.

01. SILICA SAND SEDIMENT FILTRATION

This is the first stage, eliminating coarse particles, dust and other foreign matter. The sand is regenerated after every batch produced to prevent clogging and the breeding of bacteria in the medium.

02. GRANULAR ACTIVATED CARBON FILTRATION

This is done in 7 stages. The carbon is also regenerated after every batch to prevent clogging and the breeding of bacteria in the medium.

03. ULTRA FINE MECHANICAL FILTRATION

Six times 1-micron cartridges are used for this stage.

04. REVERSE OSMOSIS FILTRATION

This is the heart of the Aquazania process. Nine pairs of semi-permeable cellulose-acetate and polyamide membranes remove all remaining contaminants, including bacteria and viruses, as well as 99.9996% of dissolved minerals, salts and chemicals. The effective pore size of the combined membranes is equivalent to mechanical filtration of 0.0001 micron (0.0000001 millimetres).

05. MINERAL REINJECTION

Because 100% pure H20 has a mildly unpleasant bland taste, we re-introduce minute quantities of pharmaceutical grade minerals: calcium (2,70 parts per million), magnesium (2,54 parts per million) and potassium (1,90 parts per million). This produces a natural, sweet-tasting water with additional nutritional properties – pH=6,85.

06. OZONE STERILIZATION

Pressured ozone gas is injected into the water. Its powerful oxidizing properties kill any remaining micro-organisms, bacteria or viruses. In addition, any dissolved iron and manganese – often found in excessive amounts in ground water – are converted into insoluble oxides and removed by sedimentation.

07. MULTI-STAGE BOTTLE WASHING

Our state of the art bottle washing and sterilisation plant uses a high pressure, high temperature, high alkalinity washing system, followed by an ambient temperature high pressure rinsing system, achieved in ten individual stages.

08. STERILIZING BOTTLE RINSE

At this stage bottles are rinsed out with the product water (Aquazania), which has an elevated level of ozone – this ensures that prior to filling, every bottle is already sterile.

09. FILLING, CAPPING AND SEALING

A high pressure HEPA filter is used to create a positive pressure in the filling chamber ensuring that filling, capping and sealing are done in a pressurised, dust-free and sterile environment.

BOTTLELESS WATER PURIFICATION PROCESS

The treatment on site of municipal or other source waters, for our bottleless solutions, is carefully designed to achieve the best possible results. Each situation requires an evaluation of the quality of source water and the desired quality of the resultant drinking water. Solutions may include some or all of the following components.

01. PER DELIVERY – ON SITE PURIFICATION

This could include a full building solution for the treatment of source water, including Pre-treatment, Ultra-filtration, Reverse Osmosis, Post treatment and sterilisation.

02. UNDER COUNTER TREATMENT

Components in these type of solutions are usually cartridge type, and could include particulate filtration in the range of 0.5microns to 10microns, Granular activated Carbon, Bacteria static components and Ultra violet sterilisation.

03. NANO SILVER AND COPPER

Introducing nano-silver particles and or copper into the manufacture of the components of the water dispenser, where those components come into contact with the drinking water results in the elimination of bacteria.

04. NON-STORAGE TYPE BOTTLELESS WATER COOLERS

Some of the AQA range of water coolers have eliminated the need for a storage tank inside the water cooler, resulting in continuous flow direct chill cooling, with no stationary water storage.

WATER QUALITY

WHY AQUAZANIA?

AQUAZANIA WATER
100%
Aquazania water is purer than an underground mountain spring and cleaner than snow. Each and every molecule of Aquazania goes through a complex 9 step purification and filtration process. It is sterilised using activated oxygen. No chemicals are added ensuring every drop has that same great Aquazania taste.
TAP WATER
64%
Tap water is piped into our homes. The vast majority of water is purified for industrial use. The small quantity intended for human consumption is heavily chlorinated and treated with ammonia, in order to control bacteria.
MINERAL WATER
45%
Mineral water is pumped via a borehole from an underground source, these waters are subject to fluctuations in quality depending on many other factors including pesticides and pollution.
SPRING WATER
27%
Spring water is the same as mineral water, except that by definition it must come to the surface on its own. These waters are also subject to fluctuations in quality depending on among other factors including pesticides and pollution, as well as surface contaminants.
